She serves on the board of directors of Let’s Start Talking International and in an advisory capacity to several nonprofit organizations. Professor Schaffer has worked with hundreds of nonprofit organizations throughout Los Angeles and welcomes the opportunity to assist students in finding a way to use their gifts and knowledge to serve the nonprofit sector.

Shannon Anderson- Program Assistant
Shannon Anderson, a graduate student at Pepperdine’s School of Public Policy, is from Thousand Oaks, California. Shannon is the Program Assistant for AH Scholars, providing administrative and support services for the AH Scholar’s Executive Committee. Growing up, Shannon was a volunteer tutor for low-income elementary and English Language Development (ESL) students. Prior to coming to Pepperdine, Shannon earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Economy at UC Berkeley. During her time as an undergraduate, Shannon volunteered as a peer advisor in UC Berkeley’s International and Area Studies program; she served as an intern for a California State Assembly member; and she lived in Washington, D.C., where she interned at a nonprofit organization that works to raise awareness among policymakers and the public about the plight of Iraq War refugees. Shannon’s experiences in the nonprofit sector have inspired her to explore the possibilities for creating positive change in her community through volunteerism and political engagement. She hopes to provide an environment in which AH Scholars can develop their skills so that they can best pursue their own avenues of service and leadership.
Diana Singhavong- Director of Leadership Development
Diana is a junior, majoring in English Literature and Political Science. Some of her most cherished work experiences in the nonprofit sector include her time with Conciencia—a nonprofit in Buenos Aires that encourages the civic participation of Argentine youth—and HandsOn Inland Empire, an initiative of the Inland Empire United Way. Diana’s interest in nonprofits began in the area of faith-based nonprofits focused on equipping Southeast Asian leaders in the church with needed leadership development and has developed into an interest for nonprofits that utilize education and learning to affect change in the community. After interning for Councilwoman Janice Hahn in downtown LA this past summer, Diana dedicated herself to pursue a vocation that will enable her to improve the social and physical conditions for nonprofits via either law or public policy to empower nonprofits to effectively reach out to their stakeholders. Diana desires to shape the Director of Leadership Development into a role that will provide structure to the Leadership Team’s individual leadership development and awareness of the professional and administrative aspects of the nonprofit sector.
Mitchell Reichert- Program Director
Mitchell is a junior, majoring in International Business with a minor in Nonprofit Management.
Elizabeth Froeberg- Director of Community Partners
Elizabeth is a junior and is majoring in Business Administration with a minor in Non-Profit Management. Her freshman year she participated in AH as a member of the Leadership Team. She developed a passion for service during high school when she went to Bogalusa, Louisiana to help with relief work after Hurricane Katrina. There, she saw how meeting the physical needs of individuals can not only change the lives of those being helped, but also those who serve. She pursued other volunteer opportunities such as building houses in Mexico, helping out at her church bookstore, and volunteering at the Dana Point Ocean Institute, a non-profit ocean-education facility. After six months of volunteering at the Ocean Institute, she became an employee there. She has now spent three summers working for the organization, which has helped her appreciate the non-profit sector and encouraged her to work for a purpose. She is optimistic about the upcoming year and is excited for the opportunity to work with the Community Partner’s Board. Her vision for AH includes an increased involvement of the student body, great internship opportunities for members, and an active, motivated Board.
