Get Certified

The main goal of AH Scholars is to equip members with the necessary skills to become leaders in America’s nonprofit organizations. To ensure students’ success, AH Scholars provides a unique opportunity for students to get certified that is nationally recognized by numerous nonprofit organizations.

The Certification Process:

1) Create Profile: Officially “join” AH by going through the steps outlined under “Join Now” on our menu.

Experiential Requirements:

1) Active membership in AH Scholars at least three semesters

2) Attend one American Humanics Management Institute (AHMI)

3) Complete 180 hours of work experience in a nonprofit setting (internship, service-learning classes and volunteer experiences)

4) Attend at least one Nonprofit Career Fair or Nonprofit Career Roundtable

5) Attend the following Seaver College Career Center (SCCC) Events
How to Search for an Internship
Resume Workshop
Interviewing Workshop

6) Set-up two advising appointments (two separate semesters) with the campus Executive Director

Academic Requirements:

1) Core Courses:
NPM 301 Management of Nonprofit Organizations
NPM 302 Financial Development for Nonprofit Organizations
NPM 212,312 Field Work in Nonprofit Organizations
NPM 292 – NPM 101: Introduction to the Nonprofit Sector (required for students entering catalog year 08-09 only)

2) Choose one of the following courses:
PE 308 Leadership Development
BA598 Service Leadership (Seniors only)
BA592 Leadership through the Eyes of Faith

3) Completion of Foundational and Professional Competencies (see Competency Checklist)

4) Regular AH Event Attendance: (Meetings, service events, induction, banquet, etc)
